<p>For “User ID” please enter your username (the portion before the @berea.edu) and then click “agree”.</p>

How do I change my account’s password?

<p>You can also use <em>passphrase.berea.edu</em> to unlock your account.</p>
<p>Navigate to <a href="http://passphrase.berea.edu">passphrase.berea.edu</a>, and choose “unlock account”.</p>
<p>Next, answer your private questions that you created when you enrolled in Passphrase to unlock your account.</p>


What if I have problems logging in?

<p>Enrollment happens when you access<em> passphrase.berea.edu</em> for the first time. If you do not remember the answers to your security questions, those can be changed in Passphrase by selecting the “Enrollment” option.</p>


How can I register for Passphrase?

<p>MFA provides an extra layer of security by verifying that you are the one using your login credentials to get access to College resources. It protects you and the College by preventing the use of your login and password in the in the event that they are obtained by someone other than you by contacting you each time your credentials are used.</p>
<p><strong>How does it work?</strong><strong><br />
</strong>Duo can verify that you are the one using your credentials in a number of ways; by sending a ‘push notification’ to your phone, by sending you a text message, by calling your cellular or desk phone, or by checking for a USB key connected to your computer. You can select the method(s) that you prefer, and you can change them at any time.</p>
<p><strong>What systems does Duo protect?</strong><strong><br />
</strong>Duo protects most systems that you use your Berea credentials for daily. For example, Box, Outlook, VPN, and more.</p>
<p><strong>How do I get registered?</strong><strong><br />
</strong>You can self-register the first time you access one of the systems that Duo protects – the process only takes a moment and is very simple. Once you are set up to use Duo you will get a prompt in your browser window the first time you access web email or Box. Just answer a couple of questions and you’ll be protected! You will need to select the methods you prefer to use and follow a few simple steps depending on which options you select. You may need to provide a telephone number, install an app on your phone, and/or connect your USB authenticator key depending on the options you choose. <p><strong>What to do if I don’t have my cell phone, USB key, or am away from my contact number?</strong><strong><br />
</strong>The Helpdesk will be able to temporarily bypass Duo if you need to get logged in and don’t have access to your authentication method, but this is only temporary. For Duo to be effective, it needs to be enabled at all times.</p>
<p>If you have chosen to use the Duo authenticator app on your cell phone and your phone has been damaged or lost, the Helpdesk can assist you in installing the app on a new phone or in selecting a different verification method.</p>
<p><strong>How often is Duo going to contact me for verification?</strong><strong><br />
</strong>When you use Duo for the first time each day you will be able to check a small box that will allow you to use that computer all day without any further Duo notifications. If you forget to check this box Duo will prompt you the next time you access a protected system, but each time you see the web notification for Duo you will have the option to bypass Duo prompts for the rest of the day.</p>

Information on Campus-Wide Communications

<p>If you require an additional network connection in your office, email the <a href="mailto:help_desk@berea.edu">Helpdesk</a> requesting a ticket be opened for your request. Someone from the Network Services Team will then get a quote for the work requested, send it to you for approval, and request the account information to used fund this work. Once we receive the account information we will work with you to schedule the work at a convenient time.</p>
<p><em><strong>Important Note:</strong>  Please do not install your own router, hub, or switch! These devices can interfere with your network connection, your phone, and create a sever security risk for the College. If these devices are discovered they will be disconnected and/or removed. The only approved way to add additional network connections in any given location is through the IT Department. We will be happy to discuss all possible options in the event that additional network connections are needed.</em></p>


College employee needs another network connection in my office, what do I do?

<p>There are two supported wireless networks available on campus in administrative and  academic buildings:  <strong>BCSecure and BereaBYOD</strong>.</p>
<p>Please be aware that not all devices will be able to connect to all of these wireless networks. Some devices designed primarily for use in the home (Roku, Apple TV, Kindle e-ink devices, etc.) do not support enterprise-level wireless security protocols, so they may not be able to access the BCSecure wireless network. We provide a wireless network specifically for use with these devices in locations across campus – BereaBYOD.</p>
<h4>Campus Wireless Networks</h4>
<h5><strong>BCSecure:</strong></h5>
<ul>
<li>For Student, Faculty, and Staff use.</li>
<li>Provides non-rate-limited access to all internal College systems just as if you were connected to a wired network outlet.</li>
<li>To gain access to this network you <em>must</em> have a valid Berea College username and password.</li>
<li>This is the preferred campus network in all buildings for devices that are capable of connecting with a Berea College username and password.
<ul>
<li>If your device cannot connect to BCSecure, please refer to BereaBYOD information on gaining the same campus network connectivity via our device registration portal.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<h5><strong>BereaBYOD:</strong></h5>
<p>This wireless network services guests of the campus, but also provides an additional non-rate limited access for employees and students to connect various gaming, entertainment, or smart devices to the college network. This network provides the same connectivity campus users have with BCSecure and is the same level of encrypted security.</p>
<ul>
<li>Guests of the college can use the BYOD portal to register a guest account.  This will provide wireless access for 24 hours.
<ul>
<li>To do so, visitors should connect to the BereaBYOD network and open a browser.  This will direct guests to the BYOD portal — below the login prompt is an option to create an account.</li>
<li>Guests will need to provide a name, email address, and accept the terms of use. Once the account is created, a username, guest password, and expiration time will be provided.</li>
</ul>
</li>

<ul>
<li>Employees and students can register devices that are incompatible with the BCSecure network.
<ul>
<li>Examples are Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Bring-Your-Own-Devices (BYOD) which may include gaming consoles, streaming devices, smart speakers, and other smart devices.</li>
<li>These devices will often not allow you to connect to wireless with your username and password and will have the option to enter only the password to the network you are connecting to, or require you to connect to the device through an app on your phone.</li>
</ul>

<p>Before registering devices to the BYOD network, you must know the MAC address of your device(s).  Below are instructions on how to connect to BereaBYOD and where to find the MAC address on common devices.</p>

Request an organizational folder in Bereabox

<li>Begin by installing the software as you normally would</li>
<li>You will then be prompted by the College’s privilege management access platform, PMC. The prompt should look something similar to the following:</li>

<p><strong>Memory Upgrades<br />
</strong>Students are free to purchase a memory upgrade if they feel it would help with their successful use of their student laptop.  Installation assistance is available at the Helpdesk in the lower level of the CMIT Building.</p>
<p><strong>Storage Upgrades<br />
</strong>Students are not authorized to upgrade or replace the hard drive, SSD or optical media drive in their student laptop.  If additional storage is required, students are encouraged to use <a href="https://legacy.berea.edu/iss/berea-box/" rel="noopener">Bereabox</a> for cloud storage or purchase a USB attached external hard drive, flash drive or optical media drive.</p>
<p><strong>Replacement Battery<br />
</strong>The student laptop program provides up to one replacement battery per student.  To obtain a battery replacement, bring the computer to the Helpdesk in the lower level of the CMIT Building and request a battery evaluation.  If the battery is not functional or holds less than thirty minutes of charge, a replacement will be provided.  Additional battery replacement after the first one can be done but the cost will be charged to the student’s account.</p>

Can students get upgrades for their college-provided student laptop?

<p>In the event your laptop is damaged, the IT department can provide repairs at a subsidized rate. All rates are listed below, and will be charged to your student account:</p>

<li>Damaged charger replacement &#8211; $65</li>
<li>Screen replacement- $40</li>
